The British Law on Caste Report - 2019

The British Law on Caste

The Anti-Caste Legislation Committee (ACLC)

The Anti-Caste Legislation Committee (ACLC) has produced a new report, The British Law on Caste. As it makes clear, the current legal position exposes individuals, businesses, employers, professionals, and community organisations to a range of frivolous complaints, both civil and criminal. The report therefore corrects the impression given after HMG’s caste consultation that repealing the legislative duty will bring comfort to those at risk of such litigation. As you will note, the report has something to say about the role of HMG, parliamentarians, the GEO, the EHRC, and various NGOs in dealing with the caste issue and the impact of the recommendations made by certain community organisations to opt for the case law. The report is also forward-looking and provides recommendations.
